Salamander3 John Street
See more about this pub on WhatPub, CAMRA's national pub guide.
An 18th-century building, tucked away in a side street, that opened as a coffee bar in 1957 and got a pub licence five years later. Taken over by St Austell in 2017 and now run by two partners under the Prangell & King Pub Co. Beers from St Austell /Bath Ales stable and traditional style ciders. It looks and feels like a pub that's been there for a century or more with wooden floorboards, wood panelling and subdued lighting adding to the ambience of the ground-floor bar, created from several small rooms. A popular restaurant upstairs uses local ales used in cooking.
