- Ring O'Bells, and the Pheasant, in Wookey
Thursday 5 February 2026 19:30
Ring o' Bells
A trip down to Wookey, west of Wells, to visit the Ring O'Bells, and the Pheasant. Given time we might get to the Burcott Inn for quick half.
The Ring is a friendly, handsome old pub in the village centre, serving a normally one regular beer and two maybe three guest ales ( often from Timothy Taylor, Glastonbury, St Austell, Exmoor, Butcombe, Hop Union or Wookey) and one traditional style cider.
The recently reopened Pheasant is a traditional English pub, on the road heading west out of Wookey. Yet to be fully re-surveyed, so we'll be doing that this evening.
- The Crown at Pilton
Tuesday 10 February 2026 19:30
Crown
The Crown is an 18th-century coaching inn taken over by a local couple during the 2020 Covid lockdown and extensively refurbished during 2021/2 and fully re-opened in Nov 2022.
A new restaurant, traditional bar area and function room have been created. The main bar and side room have been decorated in a dark theme with lots of wood panelling and Victorian style ornaments and a wood burner.
- Horse and Groom, & Crown, Westbury
Thursday 19 February 2026 19:30
Horse & Groom
A trip to Westbury to visit two pubs which re-opened in the last year, the Horse and Groom, and the Crown.
The Horse and Groom is a large pub on the north-eastern edge of the town centre. There are two separate bars, one of which is essentially a restaurant. Yet to be fully surveyed.
Just down the road on the market place is the Crown, a friendly two bar Wadworth's local situated in the market square. Also yet to be re-surveyed.

- George Inn, Longbridge Deverill
Tuesday 3 March 2026 19:30
George Inn
The George has a traditional look and a relaxed atmosphere. The many areas cater well for both drinkers and diners, it's free of tie, and selling two guest ales most of the time, including from Dark Star, and Flack Manor breweries.
- The Hop Pole, Limpley Stoke
Thursday 12 March 2026 19:30
Hop Pole
The Hop Pole is an historic village pub saved from closure by a community buyout and restored by a huge volunteer effort! The interior has been sensitively refurbished and extended with a traditional bar to the right and a dining area to the left. There is a real focus on supporting local producers and suppliers with two, maybe three changing guest ales from small independent breweries in Somerset, Wiltshire and beyond.
- The Stallards, and Rose & Crown, Trowbridge
Tuesday 17 March 2026 19:30
Stallards
Two pubs in Trowbridge, close to the Rail station, on the edge of the town centre. Both pubs have been refurbished within the last year or so.
The Stallards reopened, under new management, in April '24 after a period closed for a refurb. They now have two changing real ales on and look to have more at some point in the future.
The GBG listed Rose & Crown, a few minutes away from the Stallards, has also recently been refurbished, and normally has two to three ales on.
- King William, Combe Down, Bath
Thursday 26 March 2026 19:30
King William
Tucked away in a cul-de-sac this large, the King William is a well-proportioned pub with its impressive porch, built by Job Salter in 1824 for quarrymen at a time when Bath stone was extensively mined in the local area. It has a staircase leading directly into the underground quarry from a cellar that has now been restored and opened out for additional seating. At least 2 real ales and up to 8 local "craft" beers/lagers and a few local ciders can be on.
